Founding Cerdi
1946
The company was founded in 1946 by Roger Declerck as a repair service for automotive mechanics and electricity, with an emphasis on rewinding alternators, dynamos, etc. A few years later, the first welding transformer was developed in the small workshop thanks to the experience with coil winding.

First welding machine
1950
The first welding machine is launched and is a hit. It is handmade and made of wood and upgraded post-war tank parts. Sales are going well and the company is able to grow further with a strong focus on the further development of welding equipment.
New workshop
1962
Due to significant growth, the company purchases a new workshop to increase production with sufficient space.

First MIG/MAG
1967
After years of experience and continued research, the first Cerdi MIG/MAG welding machine is launched. The conscious choice was made to develop robust and reliable machines that are becoming more and more well-known and have a great deal of affinity in the general metalworking industry. The machines prove to be virtually indestructible and will thus firmly anchor the Cerdi brand for future success.
Joining of Herman Declerck
1970
Son Herman Declerck (engineer) joins the ranks of the family business. The product range is now being expanded with, among other things, TIG equipment.

Further expansion
1977
Due to continued success and the ambitious efforts of the second generation, the company continues to grow. The board decides to purchase and move to a new workshop.
Development of the inverter
1995
The inverter technology is adopted and further developed within Cerdi to be ready for the next generation of welding machines.
USA to China
1998
By developing an ingenious inverter based power supply of 150 kW for plasma 'sputter deposition', used in the glass industry for placing coating on glass, the company can be put on the map internationally. After a successful pilot project, several hundred units are sold in the USA and later also in China and other countries.
Move to Izegem
2000
Due to strong growth and expansion, a new production site with more surface area is needed. The company moves to Izegem and is now led by Herman's sons, the two brothers Gunther and Dominik.
Geographical expansion
2004
The company is now really growing strongly. Cerdi is entering into partnerships with companies outside the European Union for the production of welding equipment and is winning major contracts in North Africa. This is where the foundation is laid for further partnerships and this geographical sales market supports further growth of the company.

First CNC plasma table
2012
Cerdi develops and produces its first CNC controlled plasma cutting table and wants to fight the competition from Asia. The development took more than a year and the first devices are selling like candy.
Further diversification
2020
Due to a strong synergy with existing areas of expertise of Cerdi, diversification is taking place in the area of surface treatments for metal. An engineer and specialist in thermal treatment with more than 30 years of experience is joining our ranks. Through continued research and development, everything is being done to be able to start up our own production of equipment and accessories for thermal spraying.
Cerdi attracts new investors
2024
Cerdi attracts external investors and enters a new era with fresh ambition. After three family generations, the established value in the welding and metalworking industry is entering into a partnership with new owners. Morgan Weilandt and Sam Weydts are taking a substantial stake in the company as new directors, in order to further expand the company with renewed growth ambitions, together with current director Gunther Declerck.
